Exploring Life & Business with Siobhan Armstrong of Healing Realist

Hi Siobhan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.

I worked in the Healthcare industry for roughly 4 years. I initially went into this field with the hopes of helping & healing people. After a while, it seemed I was doing the exact opposite. I’m a woman who stands up for what I believe in. I put up a good fight until I couldn’t no more.

In 2015, I was diagnosed with Chronic Gastritis. Gastritis is where the lining of the stomach becomes inflamed and absolutely nothing will stay down. Leaving you to vomit for 3-5 days non-stop. I didn’t understand the severity of it until I experienced endless months of agony. My flare-ups would keep me out of work for days/weeks every month. This continued on and off for 3 years, but consistently for a year. Between significant weight loss, sleepless nights & the constant worry of job security, it began to take a toll on me. It scared me honestly. I realized how important my health was and how much it was affecting my ability to compete with daily life. The continued fight due to a health condition that was out of my control. Fighting for FMLA just to stay afloat. It was all too much.

On March 8, 2019, I made a decision without a plan. I walked into my job, packed my belongings, and left my resignation letter on my supervisor’s desk. That day I chose my health. I couldn’t spend another day working for a Healthcare company that didn’t even value the health of their employees, not to mention their patients. That same day I took a gig throwing newspapers. It was my first self-employed gig. I was ecstatic, free and at peace. It was the first time in a year that I didn’t have a flare-up. I continued that for a few months and that is when I discovered a platform called Upwork. It’s where you can become an online freelancer and work for yourself. It allowed me the freedom to work in the comfort of my home without worry. It was perfect. I needed my environment to include things to ensure my health and this was the best way to do it. In turn, it opened many more opportunities.

In December of 2018, I discovered my passion for yoga. It was then when I decided not only can I go strong with my online freelancing, but instructing yoga would be a dream come true! It saved me, so why not use it to save others? I began studying to become a yoga instructor & working on my Healing Realist business. I’d have to say my illness helped me find my healing. It led me to entrepreneurship which allowed me the freedom to breathe and focus on what really was best for me. I can literally work anywhere, as long as I have a computer. That alone reduced the amount of stress and anxiety I experienced on a daily basis.

With the help of nutritional & environment changes a lot adjusted for me. I’m beyond grateful & I literally thank the Most High every day for this shift in my life. I believe we all are great at something. We have to dig deep. Sometimes it’s the painful experiences that bring us to our greatest destiny. We owe it to ourselves to discover our highest abilities. We can’t do that if we’re forever building someone else’s dream. It’s time we build our own!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

My business is all about holistic living & natural healing remedies. This includes yoga/meditation, massages, reiki healing, sound bowl singing, crystal/stone education, herbal medicine, plants & gardening, essential oil uses and so much more! My soul mission is to bring awareness to what surrounds us daily. We live in a time where the only way to heal is in the hospital. Truth is, we’ve been healing well before a hospital existed. Here at Healing Realist, you can bring modern medicine to us and we will have a remedy to replace it with. A natural remedy without all the dangerous side effects. The education we provide is what sets us apart from the rest.
